“Love God. Love Each Other. Make a Difference.”
Here at GUMC, we strive to share God’s love, change lives and serve the local community. Included below are several ministries that we offer in fulfilling our mission. However, new opportunities for service are always in the works. Contact the church office at (479) 996-6397 or firstname.lastname@example.org, if you would like to help serve in one of these mission projects or if you would like to make a donation.
Back Pack Program ~ weekly distributions of non-perishable food items are sent home with children in need during the school year (in coordination with the Greenwood School District and the Community Clearinghouse in Fort Smith, Arkansas.)
Christmas Toy Closet ~ annual distribution of toys to families in need of Christmas gifts for children. Clean, gently used toys and new toys are collected year round.
GUMC Food Bank ~ distributes food on the fourth Thursday, monthly, here at the church from 10-11:30 a.m. for local families in need.
Guatemala Missions Team ~ ministers to the Shadow of His Wings orphanage in Guatemala. This Team manages GUMC’s Pumpkin Patch annually in October to help raise funds for this mission.
Shoes for the Homeless (through the local Salvation Army) ~ is a special fund mission of GUMC which helps provide new shoes for the homeless.
This Old Church ~ Led by Charlie Gilmore and team. This team helps with small repairs for area churches. The team will do small repairs, painting, ramps, etc. They ask that the area church pays for the supplies and they will volunteer their labor. (Partially funded by the GUMC United Methodist Men’s group.)
Arms Around Greenwood (AAG) ~ Arms Around Greenwood is the result of a challenge given to our congregation by our Vision Team to transform the community by expressing the love of Jesus to people at their point of need through a few hours of community service on a single day. AAG is an annual event that began in 2016, in which we send several different teams out to serve in the community. AAG Teams serve at city parks, civic organizations, assisted living facilities, the homes of folks in need and a lot more. All in the community are welcome to join in this annual event.
